The Polène boutique at 487 Broadway comprises a spectacular glass space with a mechanical appearance that
contrasts with the sophisticated and minimalist surroundings created by interior designer Valériane Lazard.
A state-of-the-art robotic arm housed beneath a curved glass kiosk gives visitors the opportunity to repurpose leather off-cuts by following all of the steps in the design of a leather piece, using a wide range of designs and available leather off-cuts. The customer places the leather off-cuts in a drawer, and the machine then extracts and arranges them on the work surface. The cutting machine is then used to precisely carve the leather to the perfect size for each piece without wasting any material. The boutique staff, who have been trained in leatherworking skills, then assembles the components using various techniques before adding the brushed gold-finished metallic parts and personalizing the leather through hot stamping.
